Shown here is one of the more unusual design patents - for it is a design patent of a character. An unusual patent for an unusual character. First making his appearance in The Empire Strikes Back (1980), this little green figure and his unique speech pattern has become an unforgettable image in pop culture. The patent itself is actually for Yoda toy figures, which have undoubtedly brought in vast amounts of revenue for Lucasfilm over the past 30 years.
